BEST crockpot recipe

Hey there, grabbed this recipe from a magazine.... since the Hubby LOVES pot roast I am on the lookout for new ways to make it!

They claimed this to be the BEST EVER roast beef.......
1 boneless beef chuck roast (4lbs)
1 large sweet onion, chopped
1 1/3 cups water
1 can french onion soup
1 cup packed brown sugar (I only used 1/2 cup)
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
6 garlic cloves, chopped. (I used 1 Tbs minced garlic)
1 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp pepper
3 Tbsp cornstarch

Put meat and onion into a 5 qrt low cooker. Combine soup, water, brown sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, ginger and pepper into a bowl. Pour over meat, cover and cook for 7-8 hours on low.
Remove meat to a platter for serving. Pour juices into a sauce pan and bring to boil. Combine cornstarch and 3 Tbsp water; gradually stir into the pan. Bring to boil, cook and stir for 2 mins or till thickened.
*I served this with a baked sweet potatoe and rice!

The BEST EVER? Honestly it was ok... I think it was a little sweeter because of the brown sugar but not much different than a normal recipe. Rating? B
